Tell us about atWork Australia
atWork Australia is the second biggest provider of Disability Employment Services in Australia. We help people with injury, illness, disability and disadvantage to make the most from work and life through training and sustainable long term employment.
We believe that everyone has a place in the workforce and that the key to that is understanding our individual talents and strengths. We know that tapping into these talents and using training and employment leads to successful professional and social outcomes that benefit everyone.
Who’s in the team?
I run the Ballarat site on my own but we're growing rapidly and looking to employ another team member very soon!
What have been your biggest achievements in the past twelve months?
We have come a long way since our successful tender for the DES (Disability Employment Services) contract which begun on July 1, 2018.
I have had 12 years working in the DES program here in Ballarat and the Sunshine Coast and was brought on board to assist with growing our caseload in February of this year. I have doubled our clientele as of late February and we are continuing to grow rapidly through partnerships brokered with other Ballarat Community organisations, local employers, and good effective consistent case management strategies.
We have placed 25% of our caseload in ongoing employment which is considered great performance in DHS. This is something we are very proud of. We continue to supply local businesses with great quality staff and support.
Personally, seeing the way employment has changed the lives of those who have overcome barriers to job readiness has very rewarding.
What’s Next for atWork Australia?
Growth, growth and more growth!! We are now at the stage of hiring another staff member to cope with the demand for our services. We will continue to strive to provide a quality tailored employment and vocational service for all our clients and through doing this consistently, will come more clientele and more employment opportunities for our clients!
What do you enjoy when you’re not at work?
I take boxing classes at a local gym, head to Melbourne to watch my Mighty Tigers, and spend time with my son.
